Let’s get one thing clear. It’s my favourite form of motorsport.
In my humble opinion, It’s arguably the most quintessential and most visceral form of the sport.
In the top level, we are talking about cars that have 11,000 horsepower. EACH.
We are talking about machines, driven by men and women that accelerate faster than a damn fighter jet.
We are talking about machines that trigger a Richter scale reading of 2.0 when they launch off the line.
You’ve heard of shake, rattle, and roll - that’s because that’s what these things do to your bones and organs when they race.
It’s unlike anything else you’ll ever experience. It’s unlike anything I can explain.
It’s visceral, It’s incredible, it’s inconceivable.
However, at Jamboree events, you’re seeing some of the nations fastest and best sport compact cars. Think of it as the tuner and import scene’s answer to Top Fuel racing. Instead of 11,000-horsepower nitro cars, you’ve got highly-engineered turbocharged, supercharged, and rotary-powered machines — mostly Japanese and late-model Aussie cars — pushing the limits on the quarter mile. It’s more about precision engineering, boost, and insane RPM than brute nitro power.
Lets talk off track action first.
Off track spectacles at the event included fun activities for the kids, trading stalls for companies such as Shannon’s Insurance, Garrett, and official event merchandise as well. Adding to this, the even hosted a show and shine competition and a few burnout demonstrations.
I’ve done my best to highlight a few of the off track entertainment, however, I preferred to spend the majority of my time scouring the pits for action, and to have a chat to some drivers and team personnel (which of course is free with every general admission ticket - unlike other forms forms of motorsport).
